Short description:
The ProSTRAT-AI project aims to address the European market demand for a prostate cancer (PCa) intervention test. PCa is prevalent, affecting ~1 in 7 men, with 45% of cases being slow-progressing and suitable for active surveillance (AS). Current non-invasive tests fail to accurately detect significant PCa and guide necessary treatments. ProSTRAT-AI, a collaboration between German and Croatian SMEs, leverages AI to integrate clinical, omics, demographic, and imaging data, enhancing PCa management. The project will develop the AI-based “ProSTRAT-AI test” to stratify PCa patients for immediate treatment or AS and detect significant PCa during AS. Additional objectives include data privacy solutions, a secure data space, and a mobile application for patient support. The test, compliant with Regulation (EU) 2017/746, will enter the market 12 months post-project, potentially extending to other chronic diseases.
Goals and expected results of the project:
The primary goal of the ProSTRAT-AI project is to establish and commercialize the ProSTRAT-AI Test, a diagnostic tool designed to differentiate between significant and insignificant prostate cancer (PCa). Utilizing AI, this innovative test will address the limitations of current diagnostics by integrating omics, clinical, imaging, and demographic data, thereby improving accuracy and disease management. The ProSTRAT-AI Test will guide patient management, determining whether immediate treatment is necessary or if active surveillance (AS) is appropriate. By applying this test at initial diagnosis and during AS, we aim to reduce the need for biopsies and unnecessary treatments, enhancing patient safety and care.
